Unique Illinois: Atmospheric Sciences

This video follows a team of Atmospheric Sciences students traveling to Montgomery, Alabama, as severe storms approach.

It features PERiLS (Propagation, Evolution, and Rotation in Linear Storms), a two-year field campaign led by University of Illinois students and faculty to better understand and predict tornadoes in the southeastern United States.

Through hands-on fieldwork and advanced instrumentation, the project supports efforts to improve severe weather warning systems for vulnerable communities.

Unique Illinois: Atmospheric Sciences was nominated for a Mid-America Emmy in 2025.

My time at Big Ten Network (BTN) coincided with the production of the Unique Illinois video series, including the episode highlighting Atmospheric Sciences. I collaborated with the BTN videography team to capture b-roll, assist with interviews, and support equipment setup and operation during field shoots.
